The skies cleared and the sun beamed down on Ascot Racecourse for Oaks Ladies Day, where Perth’s fashion fillies flocked for the Myer Fashions On The Field annual event.
Hosted by Basil Zempilas and with prizes to the value of $15,000, the odds were stacked for the 102 entrants. The judging panel included Myer Racing Ambassador – Rebecca Twigley, leading WA designer – Aurelio Costarella, local fashion expert – Aly May, Myer WA Regional Manager – Kerry Davenport, Channel Seven’s glamorous weather presenter – Natalia Cooper and 2009 Myer Fashions on the Field Autumn competition winner – Ngaio Roa.
Judged on a select criteria, the 102 hopefuls had to demonstrate style and originality, appropriateness of the outfit for the occasion, attention to detail with accessories, understanding and interpreting of current fashion trends, grooming and deportment and suitability of the outfit for the climate.
With the highest standard to date, Rebecca Twigley said: “The Perth contestants really made me proud! The racewear was of a very high standard”.
