Jayson Brunsdon presented a romantic and cohesive collection of men’s and women’s ready-to-wear garments on the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) 2015 runway.
Guests were immersed within the runway via a row of European style wrought iron garden chairs that were placed down the isle alongside buckets filled with beautiful red roses which ultimately represented the collection’s title, ‘A Rose is a Rose’.
“A Rose is a Rose” – meaning ‘I am what I am’, is a quote by American novel, poetry and play writer, Gertrude Stein (who is lesbian), and is the inspiration behind the collection – one that projects the freedom to love one another without gender restrictions and to express our individuality and rebellious spirits regardless of the confinements that society can sometimes place upon us.
Female models showcased lovely french lace, tulle, silk organza and sequined designs (just to name a few of the versatile fabrics) with pops of print and french brocade in bold tones making it down the runway too.
Also on display for the first time was Brunsdon’s menswear collection, which has been a long-standing dream of his to create a modern and focused male wardrobe which gives his wearers a real sense of ease when it comes to fashion. And that it certainly did – as male models boasted a cool and sharp array of pant and shorts suits, statement separates and even some French lace front bib paneling.
All in all, the newly launched menswear line is a luxurious, refreshing and romantic representation of the already well-established brand and I am loving it. Kudos where kudos is due!
