Organisers of the fundraising initiative said,

“After the devastating fires this month we have been moved to take action and we will be donating 100% of the profits of our upcoming Sydney Pop Up event to the Red Cross & The Climate Council.

“We feel that this is an opportunity to both help people who are directly affected by these bushfires and also raise awareness of the current global climate crisis that has contributed to these unprecedented fires.”

They will be raising funds by:

  • Directly donating the event budget of goods & services provided in kind by our suppliers

  • Collecting donations at the event

  • Donating 100% of the net profit of event sales after staff and event costs are covered

How will these funds help?

The donation to the Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund will help their emergency teams to do their work – including the bushfires we are currently seeing across NSW, Queensland and South Australia. Along with disasters yet to come.

By supporting this incredible cause, it enables them to give people the support they need in disasters: whether that’s help to prepare, a safe place to take shelter, psychological first aid, information, and practical support through the months and even years it can take to recover.

The vast majority of the Red Cross team are volunteers. So the Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund covers their costs, including training, equipment and transport as well as the co-ordination effort to ensure their teams are where the community needs them to be.

The Climate Council is a not-for-profit that relies on donations from the public. And this contribution will help fund a small team of staff and volunteers who power their work. Including expert researchers and communicators who are shifting the national debate on climate change, and pushing for a transition to a clean, renewable powered future.

And whilst The Fashion Catalyst is located on the west coast, we strong urge that everyone pass this event/post on to anyone that is able to attend this Disaster Relief Fundraiser Big Fashion Sale!

Vicky began her career writing fashion, lifestyle and music related articles for a diverse range of print and digital media outlets. Shortly thereafter – upon discovering that a vast majority of the fashion industry were being out-shadowed by the commercial conglomerates of the world – Vicky (who equally grew tired of having no creative freedom herself) set out to create her own digital publishing platform that focused on promoting the incredible talents of all creatives within the fashion industry. Which is how The Fashion Catalyst began in 2009.
