Behind The Clothes – Looking And Feeling Good‏

Fashion Week 2010 (FW10) is looming with another round of cities and designs, the world is assailed by clothes! There is though, a saying that the dress doesn’t make the model but the model makes the dress.

Behind the Clothes

People spend hours and days shopping and stressing about which clothes to buy and what to wear but really this is just one part of looking and feeling good when going out into the big wide world.  Spend time where it really counts, with your inner self.

Here are some thoughts in no particular order from Just A Model, about what goes on behind the clothes that can make not just the clothes, but the person.

Walking- It makes an incredible difference and impact how you walk. Many people ruin the first chance of a look (of being noticed) by their walk.

You can turn heads and make your whole demeanor different with a good walk.  A friend of mine heard me say this and didn’t stop to listen to what I had to say after and shot off to a reception walking in with what she thought I meant; ‘a so called model walk’. They had to call for oxygen as people couldn’t breathe for laughing at her wiggletrotcrosslegged arm flailing entrance…! No!

It can though make a huge difference just by very subtly walking a little differently. Just lengthen your stride a bit and make the walk just that bit longer, slower and more purposeful. Slow it all down a bit! Let the arms sway naturally but let them move back behind you as if going for a point behind your rear and lift your chest up.  Just feel this amazing flow develop and it will make you smile so much. Practice until it is second nature.

Real heels- Don’t walk in them in public until you have mastered them and can walk with flow and grace and can also run in them and dance in them.

Moving- We all move too quickly in this modern world. Slow it down and move your arms and hands just that bit slower. Pick up the glass with flow and grace and savour the movement as it comes to your lips and caress the flavour with your mouth and soul. Turn your head slower. Learn some looks; some killer looks, soft looks. Learn some poses; some killer poses, and soft poses. Poses start as poses but become natural after a while and you will drop them dead without thinking.

Smiling- Makes such a difference. Proper smiles though come from within…soooo…  Inner confidence makes for smiles. Clothes can never be total magic that will make one radiant and confident. They can help but it starts on the inside and the clothes can just help the glow shine.

I wont try and add to the zillions of books and waffle out there about inner confidence. It helps though to get get to know and love your body. Get used to walking and dancing naked around the house, do what comes naturally to your body.  Look after it well, exercise it really well and feed it healthily and exercise your mind and feed it healthily too!

Open your eyes to see the wonder of the tiny and the massive in the world around you. Look at a room with new eyes, explore the world in and around you with the heart of a child again.

Stop caring how others perceive you, leave the past where it is and know also that the future will always be just an unknown but an incredible adventure good and bad, bad and good.

Do something that scares you each week and do a random act’s of kindness each week, shout to the sun and sing to the stars. LIVE:))

Deal with life and events with grace and resilience. Smile at those that rant and rave or try and demean you. A smile will infuriate them and while they go puce, you wink a cool wink at them and walk away in style.

So next time you are looking in panic at your wardrobe or wondering what to buy in a shop, just take a breath and know it doesn’t really matter for you can make anything look good!!

Go out and walk the walk, love the life, ignore the idiots, care not for compliments, glide with grace, dance with delight, converse with conviction, party with passion and smile the socks off everyone around you.

Just A Model.
