Curtin Fashion & Textile and Jewellery Design Grand Finale Runway Show: Home Ground

Local Fashion & Textile and Jewellery Design graduating students from Curtin University commemorated the completion of their final year of study with an innovative and dynamic grand finale runway show called Home Ground.

Set at Curtuin Stadium, with a European style runway and a seasoning of Perthalites, the show exhibited the unconventional designs of Kate Townsend, Kimberly Gouges, Justine Valendar, Hannah Farleigh, Sarah Munday, Sophie Robinson, Kit Yu Tsang (Yo), Hiu Kwan Lai, Emma Brown, Elizabeth West, Emma Pullbrook, Kathryn Bell, Hoi Ki Wong (Hidy), Erin Larkin, Eleasha Anderson, Ellen Aunins, Daniella Caputi, Lok Man Suen (Moon), Rebecca Timson, Kiara Thomson and Ellie Meyer.

Since seeing some of their designs earlier this year at the Perth Fashion Festival’s Student Runway, and after years of building structure, philosophy, innovation and a wealth of industry experience, the 21 local designer’s emerged themselves with enthusiasm and forged another lasting impression on the fashion industry.

As with all graduation fashion shows, the evening consisted of a number of awards.  Congratulations to the following designers:

Santa Arrives at Myer in the City

Santa Arrives at Myer

With Christmas on our door step, hundreds of families gathered at Myer in the City to get a glimpse and photo taken with yours truly, Santa Claus.

Led by the City of Perth Marching Band, Santa and friends: Fat Cat, Prince Charming, Snow White, Alice in Wonderland, Beauty and the Beast and the Mad Hatter, made their spectacular entrance through the Hay Street mall.  Pleasing the crowd with clowns and acrobats and gracing all with the harmonious sound of Christmas Carols by the Australian Youth Choir.

The colourful Christmas fanfare marked the opening of SantaLand at Myer; a free Christmas playground for children to visit Santa and Rudolph The Red Nosed Raindeer, and the opportunity to write their Christmas wish-list to be sent off to the North Pole in time for Santa’s present drop.
