Brave The Brow

Audrey Hepburn Thick Eyebrows_497

Thick full brows are in for summer 09 and what better time to prepare for this ‘always feminine look’ than now!

If you’ve over plucked in the past, start your brow spring clean by growing back one row at a time (rather than attempting it all at once, as you wont feel comfortable about yourself), be patient and start with the immediate row of hair underneath your brow.  Make use of the multitude of eyebrow beauty products, there are plenty of them out there; brushes, gels & waxes, pencils and concealers, these can all contribute to reducing the Einstein look.

Once you’ve grown those extra few beauties back, it is all in the shaping.  We recommend consulting the specialists so you avoid looking like a blurry picture:

Romance Is In The Hair

For that glamorous occasion, or just if you want to feel ever-elegant like Angelina Jolie; try the side-part look with a romantic twist.

Step 1:  Decide which side you want to part your hair on.
Step 2:  On that side, from the eyebrow, create a straight line back to behind the crown.
Step 3:  Flick the side back with some gloss and secure it with a row of bobbie pins.
Step 4:  To create the romantic wave, section the hair and work from the bottom up.
Step 5:  Apply thermal protector and use your GHD section by section.
Step 6:  Finish with a firm holding spray.

Sweet Caramel Subtle Highlights

Okay so we all know regrowth is tacky, but this season we are loving subtle random caramel highlights on dark brown hair.  Not only will it cost you less at the salon, but it will also tie in nicely with the next day hair we love at the moment too!

Katie Noonan Plays Perth

k1

From the sound of the very first gasp of air inhaled into a slightly tilted microphone, it was clear that Katie Noonan was about to take her audience on a journey. It could be seen in her expression, her composure and her innocent wide-eyed glances. After adjusting the microphone and setting down her specs on the stage floor, she did just that.

I was fortunate to attend two performances; the first being Katie Noonan: The Music of Lennon and McCartney with WAAPA’s Jazz and Contemporary Music students and the second at ARTBAR with her husband, saxophonist Zac Hurren and Jazz guitarist Stephen Magnusson forming the trio, Elixir. Both performances far exceeded my expectations and added to my appreciation for talented musicians.

Watching Katie live on stage was breath-taking, truly a magnificent experience. Katie projected a comfort on stage as if she were at home, listening and playing her songs which were her way of sharing her private life with us, a cosy audience in the propinquity. She was refreshing and her music was moving. Clearly her voice being the highlight; pure, peaceful and angelic, it carried with it every sentiment of each lyric she sang.

Katie has a gift for writing, her voice the instrument by which she could delve into my soul and liberate true interpretation of word and sound. Each song taking me on an excursion, some which have helped heal wounds and others that fill my heart with joy. A joy, that she radiated herself, along with a respect for music, whether being played by her husband’s saxophone, the WAAPA students, who in fact delivered a skilful performance in their own right, or her own fingertips. She exuded contentment. Her face sang even when she wasn’t. I found myself captivated by her, just waiting for her next tune. She certainly has a presence about her. Even when I spoke with her after the show she was pleasant and graceful. She was obliged and I, just one of her many fans, was gratified.
